One of these three: Sepp Maier, Dino Zoff or David James (;))

richie001 18 December 2009 11:22 AM

Gordon Banks,of the modern era,Schmeichel,Buffon,Casillas.I am going to say Petr Cech before his head injury(sad to say hasn't been the same since)

Turbo2 18 December 2009 11:48 AM

Seriously though, this is the one prime area of concern that I have for England's World Cup campaign. I can see us getting through to the knock-out stages and then playing really well against one of the big teams, but losing the match due to some idiotic goalkeeping error.

We just don't have any home-grown talent between the sticks these days.

MarkC 18 December 2009 02:51 PM

Peter Schmeichel great goalkeeper

Moley 18 December 2009 03:53 PM

Another vote for Schmeichel

WR 1mposter 18 December 2009 07:06 PM

mr hat 18 December 2009 09:32 PM

simple, "the goalie" aka andy goram. rangers legend. a goalie so good he prompted the then celtic manager the late tommy burns to say that on his headstone he will have "andy goram broke my heart" an unbelievable shot stopper and best iv ever seen.

mad555 18 December 2009 10:27 PM

Gary Bailey and Goram would have to be up there to.

I always though the save on 41 seconds in this clip was his best I think it was a champions league game against an Austrian team iirc

Bailey - You're drunk :lol1:
Goram - He was a drunk but the best sweaty keeper I've seen

Peter Shilton. Each and every day. Nothing flashy, just outstanding goalkeeping.

The late great Brian Clough said of him, "He's worth ten points a season".

deanb1980 24 December 2009 10:33 PM

peter schmichael all the way petr cech was getting there but after his accident he's now average which is a shame

Quasi Modo 24 December 2009 10:39 PM

Pat Jennings!:) How many other goalies have scored from their own box?

chocolate_o_brian 25 December 2009 07:22 PM

I can't believe nobodies said Lev Yashin. Guy saved over 150 penalties in his career :luxhello:

Better than Schmeichel, Banks, Shilton... any of them. He WAS the best IMHO. :thumb:

I am going to throw in a wildcard vote for Given as well.

Then Schmicheal :)

flat4boxer 25 December 2009 11:20 PM

Shay Given
Fabien Barthez
Peter Schmichael
Brad Friedel......one of the best imo
Good old Shaka Hislop at Newcastle United back in the day

You're fooking blind mate and I'm sure if he'd played for any club other than United anti Man U bias wouldnt cloud some people's judgement.

Schmeichel is the best keeper the game has ever seen. Prior to him it was "the iron curtain" Rinat Dasyev of Russia and prior to him Banksy but Schmeichel has the all time crown and will have it for quite some time jusging by what's around at the moment.

alcazar 26 December 2009 01:16 PM

Only comes 5th in the you-tube list.
Yashin wins it from Banks.

Trout 26 December 2009 11:26 PM

No-one has mentioned Grobbelar ;)
