how do i get tax? new car, logbook not arrived..
hi
bought the car at the begining of the month, the tax runs out at the end of the month.. ive got mot and insurance, how do i get tax for it if the logbook doesnt arrive before the end of the month? the previous owner said he would send it the day after i purchased it.. thanks in advance cheers |
I would say chase the old owner up and see if it's gone. You won't be able to get tax without having the V5 document.
If he plays funny - speak to the DVLA and see what the score is. They should be able to tell you if the V5 has been sent out or not to the new user. If not you can order a new one from them (at a cost) |
Just take Section 10 of the Registration Certificate you were given and insurance cert and MOT cert to the post office and they will issue you a new tax disc no problem.

I can guarantee you they are wrong, the New Keeper Supplement is all you need.
|
as above all you need is section 10 new keepers supplement and you insurence cetificate and mot any post office will tax it of them but it has to be dated in the last 3 months
|
yep will add to only wee green slip needed plus mot and insurance get tax no probs
|
ok cool, i'll give that a go tomorrow
one other thing, i havnt filled that section 10 in lol, am i supposed to do that? i guess i am.. |
u can tax it if u got the v5 new keeper supplement the little green slip
|
section 10 needs to be filled in
|
Cant you just do it on line ?
|
the first question online is..
"I am the registered keeper of the vehicle. I have the V5C Registration Certificate (Log Book) and the address on it is correct. Please note, this service cannot change your address. " yes or no.. |
Pencil in the name and address on the green part. Take valid certificate of insurance with the green part you got to the post office no problem taxing the car this way? May need mot too but it can certainly be done.

cheers guys, log book came today, so no problems taxing it :)
