Friking leak and condensation!!!!

I know there are other threads but would appreciate further info if poss guys!!!!
Ok the weather has bee crappy but my classic has condensation down both sides of the boot and the windows are unreasonably wet on the inside front and back (not after driving and drying).
It appears that water is getting in under the bottome of the back window somewhere ( the spare wheel well is bone dry).
I confess that I have not gone too far into this yet as its soooo cold outside. Has any one had similar probs? -also there is rust under the nsr back window in the boot????

Please Help if poss!!

Mate i would look at the seal's on your winscreen.
I have had 2 leaks and they have both come from the windscreen.
Just have someone run a hose over it will u look and puul away the trim a bit. As i found taking of the trim before im sure can creak leaks.
Good luck mate.

I rekon youre right bud - I have a morbid fear of leaks etc.. such a nightmare - What do you rekon - mastic every thing???? AAARRRGGGHHH???!!!
As a side note - do you know if classics have a cabin/pollen filter??
I also found a water drop in the summer from below the aforementioned rust under the boot and the car and there was a plastic bung in the chassis - now removed to let water out -but was this wise?? God Im sounding paranoid - I love the scoob! lol!

Mate not to sure about the boot as i've not had that problem. I def think its the bonding around the screen tho.

Loads of newspaper every where and a hose are the best tool matey

Thanks dude! - Im on it! I think youre right with the screen bonding - Thankfully Ive had some dry days so I have a bit better idea now - will let you know how it goes!!
Cheers again!

The screen areas are prone to rust....so this could be one of the possible reasons.....will need a windscreen installer to pull it out and clean rust and re seal if need be....Only a suggestion.

Sadly - I think this is the course of action Ill need to follow. The rust is no bad at all but I think in the spring I'll get the window out and sort anything that needs doing. Untill then its sealer time!!!!!

Before you go crazy make sure you inspect the boot seal mate as these can be prone to failure.

had the same problem

Buddy i had the same problem on my 04 sti got a guy out to take the rear window out and reseal it again now its fine.

scooby72 15 December 2009 08:49 AM

Ok guys - when I looked at it again at the weekend I found a gap into the boot on the passenger side right up under the corner of the window - I'll try getting some mastic in there and see how it goes untill next spring - weirdly although there is some rust just under where this hole is the inner wing (under the jack) is really quite dry - just the usual condensation dampness but ont wet. Water is a real nightmare.
I also reckon that I only discovered this due to the really bad weather recently and the fact my car is on the drive not inside.
All the help is most welcome!!
