standard engine internals??

hi, currently i have a 350z and am thinking about buying either an impreza sti9 or an evo 7 mr fq300?? I know the standard internals on the 350 can take up to about 380bhp before needing to strip and change conrods. The major deciding factor depends on how much power the standard internals can take on the ej20-t engine in the sti. quite like the evo but thinkin the scooby is quite a bit cheaper an better value for money so will probs go with that if the engine can take plenty power. thanks if anyone knows when i would have to start changing parts etc

Hello and welcome :)
Can we bin the versions please? Its confusing as they stopped in 2000 (my00) and it only ever applied to jdm sti models anyway :)
Can you just give the model year and domestic market of what you are after ;) (ie edm or jdm) as there are lots of differences ;)

Tony:)

hi, probs 2005 sti impreza thanks

Mus 10 December 2009 04:33 PM

hi and welcome 2005 sti comes with avcs heads and a tough 6 speed box there internals should be good all day long at 450 some people in america run them up to 500 with no problems. are you thinking of selling the 350z?

jd5217 10 December 2009 04:35 PM

isnt the uk 2005 a 2.5 though?

Mus 10 December 2009 04:43 PM

not sure about uk but im guessing 400/400 if the uk is 2.5

jd5217 10 December 2009 04:48 PM

that was my thoughts, about 400/400 on a 2.5.

TonyBurns 10 December 2009 04:49 PM

The 05 is a 2ltr, so low 400's all day long, though the JDM's are better still due to the upgraded crank etc ;)

hi yeah selling the 350, fancy a turbo and four wheel drive and love the flat 4 warble on the scoobies. 05 is a 2.0.. so yus think about 450ish with an oil cooler an bigger coolant radiator should be fine then

chrisdicko 10 December 2009 05:27 PM

Yeah, 450 is do-able. You don't need a bigger radiator though, and may not need an oil cooler.
The turbo you run for 450 may give a bit of lag though on the 2.0l.

Mus 10 December 2009 05:28 PM

oil cooler not really needed unless your on a track im running well over 450 and i dont have an oil cooler or a bigger rad. i guess its good to have but you dont have to. you will require supporting mods 3inch s/s, knN remap, fpr, headers, decat and a nice turbo somethings from the list you might not need however it will be easier to hit your target with most of them.

how much are you looking for your car i might know someone thats intrested have you got it advertised?

Better off going for a JDM or Spec-C impreza if you want 450+bhp , my spec-c has been running 460bhp on pump fuel and 490bhp with a small shot of nitrous for 2 years and i do loads of 1/4 mile runs and sprints
