That price is totally wrong - even for a used one.

Jamescsti 30 November 2009 07:41 AM

It's been removed now so i'm guessing it was a fake

The luminor marina is a beautiful watch. High on my list of next purchases but trying to be sensible in the credit crunch.

They are about 4k new, good second hands ones go for 3k.

You should look on Blowers jewellers, they have some nice 111's and 112's for 3k ish. They're #3400 brand new but there's a wating list.

TBH the watch on ebay was astoundingly poor, and an obvious sh1te copy

Which Luminor are you looking at? I'm after one myself, hence looking on ebay.

Panerai Luminor Marina PAM00048 - In Stock for next day delivery - Watchfinder UK call us now on 0844 247 8884

This is the model which is my current favourite (48) with the crocodile strap. Tried it on in watches of switzerland. Mrs Chop had to drag me out of the shop or I would have bought it. It was 4k in there though.

I got the impression they would have dealt around 3.5k.

Is it a 40mm you want? You might want to look at the PAM244 and the PAM310 also.

They didnt have any of the 44mm in, I normally go for a bigger watch so would try one of them before buying.

The 111 on blowers site is also a nice watch.

Isnt the 244 also only 40mm? Looking at blowers it is the 240 that is 44mm.

Have you got one?

Chop :)

I have the 244 which is a 40mm. The 40mm are frowned upon a bit by the 'Paneristi', or known as ladies' watches(!). I just couldn't pull off a 44mm with my weedy wrists - I didn't even try one on. I was originally interested in the 48 like you, but then I discovered the 159 which I preferred. This was back in 2003/04 and I couldn't justify the cost back then. The 159 was replaced by the 244 (fairly minor differences) so I ordered one in late 2007 and picked it up January 2008.

By the way, according to the latest price list I could find (April 2009), the RRP for the 48 is £3.5k not £4k. I doubt they would be trying to dupe you, but best you know.
