Hello :D you also forgot the model and year of your car (is it a wrx or an STI) plus the remap (and possably an aftermarket ecu), upgraded brakes etc, and read up on the law about hid lights, your probably better off with upgraded bulbs (hids require a wash to be fitted otherwise they are illegal).
Forget the dump valve too, the standard one is one of the best you will ever get ;):D Expensive this modding isnt it? (that just cost you about 3k :lol1: ) Tony:) |
yes mate...its a 2000 sti, might forget the HID then, who is good for remaps in the south???? looking at upgraded brakes atm, how much is a remap, she goes like a stunk rat anyway, tops out at about 130 ish, but gets there ****ing quick, been bullying alot of big certain german rear engined cars lol..
|
Bob Rawle, Swindon, for your remap. Bit of a journey, someone might have someone closer, but they wont have anyone better.
|
Is it an RA or an STI RA?
If its a 2000 is it sonic blue? Personally, above all else get it mapped first, or at least get the bits you want to fit to the engine (FMIC) straight away. Is it running a full de-catted exhaust and does it have an induction kit? If so all the more reason to get the mapping done ASAP. I wouldn't bugger with the looks but thats up to you. |
Remap will set you back about 650 quid, Bob Rawle is very good (just google him), brakes will cost you about 900 quid (check the group buy area), but sounds like you have one of the last (though very short ratio'd box) STI type RA's (normally they go to about 155mph).
Tony:) |
full system exhaust front mount and a remap wil do you good...as mentioned above bob rawle is the man for you :thumb:

Since you're in Southampton there is
Alan Jeffery - Engine Tuner high performance engine tuning and engine building in Plymouth www.jollygreenmonster.co.uk in Kent (and many other places as he does travel) Triton Motor Services - The South's Leading Independent Subaru Specialists in Bournemouth (website is out of date but does have contact details) |
thanks for all ya help guys, no it aint got a decat, it has a proper sti pipe on so it aint too noisy, might fancy a bit more noise later on.,.it is a sti ra.. yeah real short shift lol...but it get there quick, plus i am sure none of you ever do more than the prescribed 70mph lol..any one, know anything about p1 wheels as i really ****ing want some lol...they are luuush..thinking about just changin wheels as already have coilys on but no other visual changes, (bar the front mount) will look into all the tuners, also no it is running standard air box, i was just going to go for a high flow panal filter???? good idea??? heard you should not ****about with the air/fuel larky...

The bottom part states the RTA 1988 ;) the law for aftermarket hids is different to them being fitted as standard, they still require self levelling and washers on aftermarket fitments ;) which is what I am pointing out (and half the cars out there, especially JDM models) dont have washers as standard :(
Tony:) The RTA doesn't cover HID's due to when it was written ...HID's (both JDM & retro fit) fall foul of the RTA for failing to meet either 'BS' or 'E' standards, not for auto level or washers. Hence why JDM OEM parts are technically illegal & UK/ Euro aren't, this also technically applies to non HID lamps/bulbs, if it's not E marked or BS marked. It's a mine field that neither plod or CPS seem to want to go anywhere near (which doesn't mean they wont at sometime in the future tho') & fingers crossed I've ran them for almost 3 years now (albeit in a cibie/ morette lamp/housing) & passed 3 MOT's & been stopped twice (not for lights i hasten to add) without problem |
