Forthcoming Audi RS5: £85K Fully Loaded !!!
Went to local Audi dealer in Aberdeen to try new S4 with DSG box (very impressed) and debated buying one until new RS5 emerges apparently 4th quarter 2010. Then go for one of those!
Somewhat shocked to have the Sales Manager tell me that their fully loaded RS5 demonstrator is going to be £85K with carbon brakes!!! May still go for an S4 but as my new RS4 B7 only cost me £54K out of the showroom, I will give the RS5 a miss (base price circa £60K apparently).May well go for a heavily depreciated RS6. |
You'll love the S4 Dave I'm sure. Got to agree regarding the 5, makes you wonder what an RS4 will retail at come 2011.

RS Audi's are getting very expensive these days. The RS6 price is stupid enough, but £85k for an RS5? Nice car, but not worth that money.
Same price gets you a well specced R8 (V8). Unless you need more than 2 seats, the R8 will be the better car. |
Anyone hear the price of extras for the R8 V10 on Top Gear last night?
I think Audi have gone all BMW - my dad had a new E20 323i in the early 80s. It had a few essential extras (like a steering wheel and windows) - which doubled the list price!! |

It's a hell of a car and I'd love one but £700 for colour coded seat belts is a wee bit steep.
I sometimes think car manufacturers should have a basic list price but also an "average to buy" price - so a 911 may list at say £60k but as that mean you get no wheels, roof or seats, the price of one worth having is say £75k. And they should also list a price of cars with every conceivable option too. Some cars come with everything (e.g. Lexus), others have comedy base spec. |

I regularly see a TTS around here. Call me gay (lots do) but I reckon it looks great - just has the right level of aggression. Assume the TTRS ramps it up a bit (not seen on in the flesh yet)? Quad pipes are a bit OTT but the rest looks good.

your gay,,,,,,,,,,,,, :lol::lol::lol: sorry, only joking, but you did say lol i found the comparison between the corvett and the audi interesting, corvetts wank, only thing its good at is going in a straight line (ok its american so no suprise there), they claim the audi is a much better car, but has no soul. i know i definatly wouldn't buy the corvett (assuming i had the money), but not sure if i'd buy the audi i can kind asee what tehre getting at, its an excelent car, but it just seems to miss something. I think i'd go prob down a different route, GTR anyone? lol |

I'd definitely look at the Insignia. My Poxhall was obviously a different type altogether but it was amazingly well specced, went well, handled well and was screwed together properly. Only major let down was the dealer network. They made PC World look like a helpful and professional outfit.

Yeh I am going to take a look I'll take my time though as my last 2 cars have just been bought off the cuff. BMW 335i M sport and Insignia VXR really do stand out atm.

What shape Beemer? Saloon or Coupe?
Of course I'm biased but they really are excellent cars. Shout if you do take that one any further - have a few good sources for getting hold of a good one. I'd try both - I've not tested the Insignia but it's a nice looking car and reviews are good. |

Cheers Mattee I will do. I would want the coupe. The Beemer will be quicker than the VXR due to it weighing over 1800kg. The one advantage of the Insignia is 4wd though.

Not sure what type of 4WD the Insignia uses. Is it a "proper" system?
Might try and get a drive in one just to check it out. Twin turbo 3.0 litre 6 pots by BMW are very good though. The 35i engine suits the Coupe very well and you get a lovely spec even in SE form (staggered wheels, 19" alloys, sports seats, etc). |

Actually the 4WD in the Insignia sounds pretty useful - I'd definitely take one for a test.
By "proper" I meant non Haldex (which my R32 had) - it's just not right having the weight of 4WD but FWD most of the time! |
