So I changed my fuel pump as I'm having jgm visit next month. Started and ran it briefly all fine. Went back a day later and it won't start, checked fuel at filter which is good even tried old pump but no go. Pulled plugs and they were soaked so heated them up which made it fire but ran so ruff then wouldn't start again. Ran like the firing order was wrong, just can't work it out!

jimes 22 November 2009 10:29 PM

anybody?

jimes 23 November 2009 06:52 PM

ok think the fpr is shot so no pressure just circulating fuel!.......

Anybody help with the apexi settings? must be some of you using power fc!

njberrie 24 November 2009 12:08 AM

what other mods have you got mate cos im runnin an fc
but with fmic
decat
tdo5
fpr
hks mushroom filter

what you got

jimes 24 November 2009 08:28 AM

same but tmic

jimes 24 November 2009 01:15 PM

not so sure it is fpr now as it does have pressure when cranking but dropos as soon as i stop?....Spark is not great and its not firing at all today! Gonna try stock ecu later, will it fire without airflow as i dont original only z32?

jimes 24 November 2009 05:54 PM

plugs were saturated, even heating them up didnt work. Put a spare set in i had all fine now! njberrie, any chance you could send some pics of the settings on your pfc?

Firstly check your Fuel Pressure setting - should be approx 3.0 Bar with the vacuum line disconnected

Set the injectors to 86.4% and leave the latency value at 0

Make sure the lambda sensor is switched on (in the FunctionSelect screen) and working correctly (check the Sensor/Switches menu to see the output voltage)

The stock map on the PFC will have too much ignition advance for UK fuel, and the MAF curve will need to be rescaled to suit the HKS filter. - If youare using the standard MAF, select Option2 in the Airflow Setting screen, If you ar eusing the z32 MAF, select Option3 - it should be slightly closer to the required scale than Option 1

That should be enough to get it running, but be careful - you need to tune with wideband and det cans before going into positive boost or WOT.

FIDDLE AT YOUR OWN RISK ;)

cheers, got wideband hooked up already. Does your fuel pressure hold or not? mine drops to zero as soon as i switch off, prob cheap fpr!

carpboy 25 November 2009 10:09 AM

Have you replaced your injectors?

Slowboy Racing 25 November 2009 10:10 AM

Fuel pressure should hold when when rails are primed by pump.

carpboy 25 November 2009 10:19 AM

A leaky injector would cause a pressure drop and soak the plug.

jimes 25 November 2009 05:38 PM

slowboy, thats what i thought! It is a cheap fpr and I have a better one coming but thought it should still hold but it drops instantly when the pump stops.

carpboy, injectors arent leaking it just hasnt been on a run and lots of starting and stopping in the workshop(not a daily drive car) and its too rich at mo(waiting for jgm) which got the plugs that way.

Jolly Green Monster 25 November 2009 11:41 PM

maf setting.. number 3.. probablly be rich still but not as rich as currently on oe maf setting and z32 maf :)
