Power-FC boost control

I’m just wondering if anyone who uses a PFC (without boost kit) to control boost could give me an idea of how well it performs in different gears. Does it overboost in 5th while not hitting its target in 3rd or is it ok?

I have an AVC-R at the moment but would rather sell it and use the PFC if it can hit my boost target in 3rd – 5th.

Thanks in advance,

The power FC although still a great ecu has a somewhat limited boost control, using the AVCR will give you a overall improvement of in gear and rpm specific controll which it can sometimes lack. My advice would be to use the two together for the best resutls.

Ok, thanks, I’ll take your advice and stick with the AVCR.

I just had a look at your website and noticed that you run a standard turbo at a peak boost of 1.4bar on your STI-Upgrade2. I just wondered if this is possible on VF23s or just the 16G?

Yes but as you can see it ranges from 93-00 on the list, it does however apply to both turbo's you have mentioned. The VF seems at its best around 1.35 bar and the TD can do more. Ultimately though your mapper will decide what’s best on your car as it will vary.

Oh right, that makes sense, cheers. I currently have it running at 1.35 on a chipped ECU. I did wonder whether to push it a bit further but did want to push it out of it range of efficiency . I'll leave it up to the mapper to decide when it gets mapped anyway :thumb:
