Damp boot sides
Had a damp smell in the car a few weeks ago. So I've taken all the lining on the boot out and found there is condensation all over the sides and boot lid. There awas also a small pool in the passenger side under the jack. The spare wheel well is bone dry. I dried it all off and it comes back! I don't get it because bothe wings are damp! They are damp even if the lining is in the boot too!
I've dried it out a few times now but it just comes back! Could it be getting in under the rear window? If so how do I get to it to seal it? Any ideas? |
i have the same problem 1st i thort it was the rear lights they should have a black silicone like substance as standard and then i found that the spoiler holes in the boot where leaking rain and water into the boot same as yours under the jack, i have sealed the holes where the spoiler attaches will let you kno if this cures the problem (only did it today)

spoiler holes leaking are quite a common fault. I'd start there making 100% sure they are sealed. Then [B]fully[B] dry out all water. Then, using a trusty garden hose (and a mate with a torch in the boot) soak the boot from all angles to see if the pesky wet penetrates again.

I sealed the boot spoiler holes too. I took it off and covered them in black silicon! lol.

I've also been reading about the vents leaking. What do they attach to on the other side? How do I seal them?

The vents were what leaked on mine.
If you spray water on the side of the bumper and its leaking you will see it pouring through. I just put gutter sealant around the top of the vent. Worked for me. |
