Coccyx pain, ok laugh your socks off...........

I slipped on the laminate flooring and landed on my butt. Talk about busted tailbone :(:(
Got up this morning and I can hardly walk or drive :(
Good job I had a bit of padding but Jesus, this is really painful
How long can I expect this to last
(I am not good with pain or illness) :D

i suffer alot with back pains (not good for a 31yr old) it's sh*t when everytime you move it's agony.

My advice go to bed and stay there till it stops hurting

If its still as bad tomorrow then you need to see a doctor as you may have fractured your tailbone would suggest you get an x ray

my sister did a similar thing and it has left her semi disabled

NOT GOOD!

Most people dont realise they even have this bone at the bottom of the spine and its actually a series of small bones

I really hope its not too serious and you have simply bruised yourself
albeit rather badly!

got drunk and went for a pee (1 bed house at the time so toilet was upstairs)
came back downstairs, slipped on floppy sock and bounced down 3 steps on the coccyx. agony for the first few days, hard to sit, shower instead of bath etc. anyway the pain lasted 2 weeks, and now i live in a bungalow.

I fell down the stairs when at Uni a few more years ago than I care to admit. :) It wasn't very nice! Don't know how long it was horrible for, but colleague at work fell on her coccyx a couple of years ago and had about 2 months off work!

Hope you feel better soon Lee :)

2 weeks, jjones

Thanks Clare. His nibs, typical bloke. Any chance of a lift up the pub.
I am walking like a crab, and he wants a lift to the pub :lol1:

Coccyx pain can be troublesome for years if not for the rest of your life, once you have knocked, bruised or broken it. Soft padding on seats will help, but to be safe show your butt to the Doctor:D

I bust mine when I was 13, plastic baging and hit an exposed root. Thought I had paralysed myself at first! I'm nearly 46 and am still reminded of it if I have to sit on a hard seat for more than about 10 minutes. Not much they can do, you can't really go around with your arse in a sling!

NotoriousREV 16 November 2009 02:28 PM

I've been suffering with mine for 2 years, I wouldn't mind but I don't recall ever injuring it, it just started hurting one day. I believe they can surgically remove it but personally the risk of the surgeon mis-hearing the instructions to amputate my coccyx is just too great.

Snazy 16 November 2009 02:31 PM

A friend had a bad fall on his last year, ended up having it removed. Ouchie

Hope you get better soon.

Looks like I could be in for a few weeks of it, then. Thanks everyone :)
Mine is pretty trivial compared to some comments on here

You can get creams for that sort of thing you know :D

Hysteria1983 16 November 2009 03:33 PM

Hope you feel better soon. I fell off the back of a trial bike a few years back and landed like that, I was lucky I had some padding else it would have been worse.
