IM DOIN A TURBO CONVERSION ON MY 99 SPORTS ENGINE TILL I HAVE SAVED UP ENOUGH TO GET A STI DONER CAR:norty: AND I DONT KNOW IF THE STANDARD SPORT CLUTCH WOULD BE OK SO IM WONDERING WILL THE TURBO CLUTCH FIT ANY LIGHTEN ME ON THE ISSUE OR WHAT I COULD DO TO COUNTER ACT IT????????:confused:

If you want to fit a turbo clutch, you'll need to fit a turbo gearbox too.

The N/A engine uses a push clutch and the turbos use a pull type

Yes, it will physically fit onto the engine.

You need to make sure you get the right ratio for your rear diff too, or swap the diff.

Non turbos are cable operated clutch - turbos are hydraulic with Master and Slave Cylinders, so all this will need to be swapped including pedalbox, and gearlinkage.

Your 2.0 Sport has 16 valves, by the way :)

well mine have 8v i think the engine has been changed then coz this engine have only 2 cams not 4 could i changed the heads to make it 16?

I'm interested as to why you'd want to turbo a sport in the first place? - Unless you make suitable mods to the fuel system and engine management, you'll blow it to pieces in no time at all :)

If it was my money, i'd be saving it to buy a turbo variant

The Sport still has 16 valves, even though it only has one cam pulley, per head ;)

well im 23 and i live in london need i say more lol for me to be insured on a turbo was close to 2k but on this sport its 800 and my bro in law deals with impreza all the time but i wanna ask other people what they think just incase he isnt so sure u no more info is better then non

If you buy a Sport and drop in a turbo engine and appropriate running gear, not only will you have shelled out to have the work done, by the time you tell your insurance company about the modifications, you'll probably end up paying a higher premium than you would for a standard Impreza Turbo, so this approach doesn't get you where you want to be.

Fitting a turbo clutch won't make your car any faster. More expensive than just replacing with a proper one too.

Because while it's possible to do four valves per cylinder with a single camshaft, DOHC is better in a number of different ways.

It matters because the minute you take your effectively uninsured, possibly bodged car onto the public highway, you could be driving past, or into, any one of us, or any one of our friends and families. It's not so much whether you are going to claim, it's more to do with whether anyone else needs to claim against you.

You would also be committing a serious offence, so whether you choose to accept it or not, so ultimately it'd be in your own interest not to go down the path you propose. Still, you wouldn't be the first idiot to try it.

u dont know anything about insurance my friend why not learn something about then come back a argue the issue and onces u start messing with any car its a bodged car as that isnt how they came out the factory so seriously go away

Cost must be a problem to you or you would be insuring it properly or buying a proper one>

Its people like you that choose to in effect drive around un insured that help to put all our premiums up>

Yea and I'm sure everyone on this site has told their insurance company the mods they have done and insurance only goes up when people claim u dumb ass gordon benette u people don't know anything abouty insurance and the cost of a coversion is cheaper but buyin the car and insurance is expensive if u really need schooling about insurance ask away I will tell

I think you would find the opposite that most on here have told there insurance company about all there mods> i dont have any figuires to back that up. but i do know who or what insurance company many use on here>

Also insurance companies build into every bodies price a small amount to cover un-insured drivers etc> Thats why premiums are high> yes they go higher if you claim ofcourse but there are many other factors involved and we all pay already for such things>
