Is the Classic STi available as a 'UK' car or import only?
 

I've been worried to ask this as I don't want to appear thick, but after a looking around a little on the 'net and getting more confused, I was wondering if someone could answer a question?

After owning a '97 UK Turbo (sold recently) I'd love another Impreza as soon as is viable again, but I thought a nice upgrade would be an STi version. However, would I be right in assuming all Classic STis are imports only? or is there a 'UK' version of the STi available? I'd be looking at a 1998 to 2000 car when I eventually do get another.

All are imports bar the P1 (sti-ish spec) and the 22b in UK form.

Ahh bugger, well thanks for the rapid reply though!

I've heard it can be tricky and quite expensive to insure imports and that most insurers simply won't touch them without a tracker fitted.

Also, I've been told sourcing spares can be difficult for import cars, this is what I've been told though, I don't have any experience so far with them, though I'd like to!

The spares bit is rubbish mate. 99% off parts are exactly the same as a uk car

Phew, that's not so bad then at least! I can't remember the reason stated why it was awkward for spares, but I'm glad to hear it's a crock!

A few small parts are different mate but make no difference as you will probably finf more jap cars being broke then UK.

The insurance thing is just not true fella. Go to a specialist & you'll probably pay less :norty:

insurence isnt that bad if you go to sombody who nows scoobys try gary molson from kieth mitchels or a plan they are 2 of the best

sorry to but in and thread jack but i just thought id ad to the insurance debate, i tried gary from kieth michaels as i had my van insured with them last year as they did me a good deal for that year. I know everybodys circumstances are diff but im 25 with a now clean licence with 5 years ncd living in lancashire and they wanted 1800 quid to insure my my99 uk turbo with all mods declared.(400bhp ish classic with usual mods) and ive now just payed virgin money £750 and thats to pay monthly aswell with all mods declared. only condition they had was a tracker had to be fitted before they would cover you for theft. so stick the price of a tracker and years subscription on and that takes you to 1200 quid ish. the plus side is aswell that if the car does go walkies i'd now get it back where as if id of gone with kieth michaels i wudn't of fitted a tracker and if she'd of gone walkies may have never seen the car again. so..... in my opinion a subaru specialist insurer isn't always the best place to go. :wonder:
