Gearbox changes? 92-96/96-00

I was having a browse on scoobyworld earlier, had a look at quick/short shifts, they both state models 96-00 onwards.

Why is this? I was planning on buying one of the quick shifts. But now am confused.

Did the gearbox change from 92-96 to 96-00? Or did the linkages change?

Reason I ask is I have a 97 STi shell Version 3, which I'm using all my running gear from my 94/95 Turbo 2000.

The car currently has no gear linkage etc at the minute iirc, I was planning on using mine from the Turbo 2000, will this work? Or will I need Version 3 linkages?

Also, they're clutches have different part numbers from 92-96 and 96-2007? I would have thought all 5 speed clutches were the same? Or am I wrong?

I'd just like to know what the differences are, as its a bit of a pain having to buy bits for 92-96 when I own a 1997.

Any help on this would be great.

Thanks :)

As I'm using my 1994 running gear, if I buy a 1996-2000 clutch will it not fit? As some companys advertise that they fit 92-00 other advertise 92-96 96-00, so I'm confused.

hi mate a 96-00 230mm clutch is a direct replacement & are a good upgrade for the early 92-96 225mm clutch obviously get the fly skimmed before fitting though, sorry im not sure about the linkages though, i got my quick shift off ebay only other place i seen that do them for the early cars is graham goode racing but there about 90 quid hope this helps

Ahhhh I get it, was just the width of the clutch, so if I'm using a lightened flywheel this probably isnt an issue?

Cheers mate :)
