I Keep on getting my Check engine light come one whem i go down the motorway.
Had a select monitior tell me the 02 Lambda sensor was up the swanny.
Fitted a new sensor, reset the ecu and its still happening.
Idle C/O is 9%:eek::eek:eek:
Took the car to a Bosch tuning agent near where i live, they had the car for the day and said there was a signal fault from the lambda........The fault is i imagine the MAF sensor.
We are getting a car in next week so we can swap the units round.
Is there anyway of checking the MAF on a 1996 STi 2
Cheers

darren,
maybe a stupid question but have you de-catted the exhaust?

Yes Simon its got a full Scoobysport system with no cats, the company told me C/O should not be over 1% still.??????
Any ideas mate

MY01 doesn't like de-cat exhausts as it reads a problem with the cats.
not sure about the STi but will ask around

I think Darren means 02 = oxygen as opposed to O2 = 2002 Model Year.

The "classic shape" does not have the 2nd Lambda sensor that the MY01+ WRX has that detects a "failure" of the cat in the downpipe. I don't know whether the MY02 STi has the same arrangement.

Had the 02 sensor changed on mine and the problem has just re-occured. The dealer now says it's the airflow volume sensor (MAF)? that's faulty now, going in Wednesday for the work.

Are either of you guys running aftermarket intakes or filters? It is not unknown for these to "leak" oil and for this to contaminate the MAF.

i ve got an sti v 5 type r, when it was on idle the revs used to fluctuate from 500-1000. when i checked the co, it was 9%, but the check engine light didnt come on.
so i took the MAF sensor of a mates car and fitted it on my car and the problem was gone, the revs droped down to 750 where they should be.
cheers mate
