Let us know mate. I have one too. See if you feel what I did. ;) I'll tell you after I read your impressions. Only cos I don't want to influence you. :)

Cheers,

Come on guys, what is it like. I thought about swapping the ITG for one of these!

WREXY 17 March 2002 12:21 AM

Scottdg,

Since you asked, firstly I cannot compare it to another induction kit cos I have not been in a scoob with a different one fitted. So I don't know how much better, if any better, it would be to your ITG.

I had firstly fitted an exhaust to mine. Just a catless mid and backbox. Make is a 5zigen. Then I fitted the induction kit and found it to be very responsive right through the rev range. A very noticeable difference in performance. At the time, 1 1/2 years ago, we had no 4WD RRs here in Greece so I could not get it dynoed to see the difference it made hp wise.

I have a friend here that fitted one after he had fitted his PPP, Falkland twin downpipe, and HKS manifold and with the APS kit he made an extra 11hp on top of the other mods.

Now on the road, I believe, (not 100% sure), it should be more cos you get more air in than you do on a RR.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

Sounds good wrexy, no MAF probs then? May well get one next week.

Cheers, SDG

No MAF problems so far. It uses the K&N airfilter and they are a very good filter. Rare MAF failures occur with these. I know people that have had MAF failures 3 times with the standard induction kit.

Wrexy.

Fitted my APS last Sunday.
Top end improvement but bottom end loss which was disappointing.
Lethargic below 3ooorpm & power comes in 300 rpm higher.
In fairness to APS their web site states that the cool air should go on in conjunction with Uni Chip(or some other re-map) to cater for massive increase in air flow.
UNFORTUNATELY a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
Being super inteligent I removed the mesh in the MAF housing because clearly it has to be a restriction. This totally confused the MAF sensor & unfortunately my front n/s piston picked up the bore.
Having collected my thoughts a monster engine rebuild starts tomorrow beginning with Cosworth pistons.
What impressions do others have with APS Cool Air?
