starting issues with simtek from cold
hi all
just wondered in anyone suffers with the same problem as me. when my car is cold it takes a while to start (as in its not happy) which is a real pain in the back side. i have by accident resolved this issue and would suggest anyone who maybe having similar issues to give it a try. when starting from cold i now prime the fuel pump twice as in switch the ignition on then off then on again and start. if i do this it fires up straight away :luxhello:. not sure if it helps anyone else but i thought i would share my findings. :thumb: |
I have the same thing. OE ecu never needed to do that but simtek does. Prime and then prime again works every time, its like the ECU isn't telling the pump to prime for long enough so first start is low in pressure.

There's a long thread on this (ironically, a post has been added to it this morning by Mr Swiss, above):-
jumpy idle and simtek ecu |
That thread doesn't relate to initial starting issues, strangely though I've tried the car a couple of times since and she's fired with first turn of key and pump primed for decent number of sections. I wonder if a low battery might cause issues here? I'm due to change my battery in March as it's old, wonder if you've got the same>?
