1.54 bar too high?
3' exhaust system (de-cat), walbro 255l/hr and cone induction later my 2005 sti type uk was re-mapped to run 322.5bhp with 1.4 bar boost.
Having installed Gizzmo boost controller (bov vacuum line teed for the read out) it reads on third gear 1.54 bar boost pressure , ecu seems to be ok with it as it is not cutting the fuel delivery. But Should i be worried about the pressure level ? or it might just be an error in read out. Thanks in advance for your opinions. tayfun |
I would guess it was mapped at the highest boost level that was safe for fueling/det/ timing etc Just upping the boost without the fuel to match isnt a good idea> Have you or has it been checked for det since adding the Gizzmo?
In my eyes its an accident waiting to happen if you havent had it properly checked Why did you feel the need to fit one? the o/e ecu is pretty good at controling boost at the level your at. |
Maybe overboosting slightly with cold damp weather.

The ecu gives up at around 1.65 bar, so that's when things will start to melt...

I had boost spikes with the old solenoid (2port OEM)after few months of being remapped. Engine management kept coming on after ecu was shutting the fuel supply , hence i got a boost controller for it not to go over the mapped figure.
But now gizzmo boost controller is out of control and reading 1.54 without any input to it(I just learned that you cannot set a boost level with any boost controller ie 1 bar or 1.something bar) |

just been to lakeside and it went up to 1.59 bar through few runs !

i would get it checked with a known working accurate boost gauge.

Mines plumbed into the FPR hose.
