Yee ha! Fuel cut, Chr1st on a bike that's harsh! How sensitive is the whole procedure? Is is worth me applying an eighth of a turn each run until fuel cut? Or is this level of tinkering not needed? I appear to be running about 12psi but I don't know how accurate my guage is. What I'm getting at is will that extra tiny bit of boost, which might take ages to get, worth getting?
Thanks Jamie for your speedy service!:) |
You guys seem to hit fuel cut as often as I eat a meal! :p :D
Fuel cut is about 17 PSI on a MY99/00, so aim for 15-16 if this is your model year. What did your gauge show when you hit fuel cut? Surely not 12 PSI? 1/2 a turn is about 1 PSI on my car. So you need to find a point at least half a turn back from where you do not get a fuel cut! [Edited by john banks - 3/15/2002 7:32:58 PM] |
Car is an MY97, with full decat and K&N induction kit. I will try again tomorrow morning early on when there arn't so many cars about. 1/2 a turn is about 1 psi you say, good to know. It's hard to tell the exact boost at fuel cut coz my guage measures in bar. More experimenting tomorrow.:)

No problem Charlie!
Go easy! :D Speak to you soon mate! |
Aim for 0.9 bar then initially.

OK. Special thanks to JB and Harry Boy for making me feel informed enough to have a go at this myself.

How you getting on with the Dawes ? I've also got a MY97 (with SS downpipe, back box and ITG) and was thinking about a Dawes next... Oh yeah, my boost gauge reads in bar as well. [Edited by @Dean - 3/16/2002 2:47:25 PM] |
@Dean, Dawes works very well, I have seen improvement in spool up and added power. I seem to be able to run higher boost in the lower gears before I hit fuel cut. In fifth I keep hitting it. Mabey JB will have some answers.
