One of the earlier dates if possible, then count us in. It really is an amazing day. :thumb:

[quote=pinseeker;9023818]I don't believe we have done one for a couple of years now, and for those that don't know the format .........

We donate gifts (wrapped for either boy or girl or suitable for either) and deliver them to a home for children a day or two before christmas.

It used to be that the santa cruise was not just ESC and we would end up driving a little way away to a home etc, but I feel it would be nice to find somewhere nearer, Essex or even within London ?

This is always a great event, seeing the kiddies (those driving and those receiving gifts :D ) and I believe really makes a difference to them.

So who would be up for this, obviously dates need to be made, a suitable home/hospital needs to be found (anyone ?) and arrangements need to be made with them to have us all descend upon them en masse ........ And it just makes another good reason for a blast.

I think to be honest the 20th will work out to be the best date Steve, as it is closest to Christmas day ......... I'm sure you'll be able to arrange something with the boss ;)

Spec'c'57 29 October 2009 03:49 PM

I doubt that mate, we'll be in Barbados. :p

Nate, the earlier ones would also be better for us.
Sophies birthday is a couple of days before xmas, so we usually do her birthday stuff the weekend before xmas.
We will try and support this what ever the final date. :thumb:

Have we settled on a date yet? :top:

Diesel_DC 30 October 2009 09:44 AM

Just my thoughts but why not do it the sunday after the Posers, gives a chance to collect all the pressies, and they won't be hanging around in peoples cars/houses for ages either.

Supercue 30 October 2009 10:12 AM

Good idea Dave :top:

Nate 30 October 2009 07:49 PM

Okay, I have just consulted the Bible (that will be the ESC calendar of events :D ), and feel that the 6th is a little early, the 13th is a Sea fishing trip and the 20th is FREE.

Also, by going on the 20th, it gives more time to collect pressies from those that will not be able to make the trip and comes after 3 good pick up points Posers, Halfway House and the Lodge.

So, if we sttle on the 20th, I feel this is probably the best date on the calendar :thumb:

spally 30 October 2009 07:58 PM

20th sounds good.

Also rather than just saying drop pressies off at the posers, why not allocate 2/3 addresses in essex where people can deliver their gifts? we would happily make our address know for a drop off point.

Long time no see

Speak soon Baza & Ann

spally 30 October 2009 08:52 PM

hello baz,

hope you and the mrs are well?

Going by these guys last effort at fund raising, we certainly want them on board :thumb: :D :D

Nate 30 October 2009 08:56 PM

Good to have everyone on board :thumb:

Paul,

Great idea re: collection points :thumb:

Meeting up point on the day could be somewhere like Baz Vegas, was going to suggest Mayflower, but that will be possibly be rammed when we will need to meet up.

We need to find a home/hospice to deliver to, one ideally with enough parking, have contacted Heart (or Essex FM) and haven't heard back yet, if anyone knows somewhere, let me know so that I can make contact.

Cheers :thumb:

Supercue 31 October 2009 09:40 AM

Nate 20th is cool with us. :thumb
It may pay dividends to speak to Social Services, I would have thought they could point you in the right direction quickly enough :top:

Not sure if there's anything here that may start the ball rolling - charity search.

I entered only children / youth & Essex and a comprehensive list came up including Barnardos & Young Carers?

When did they organise this, as it does clash ...... Hopefully these will work side by side with no problems.

IIRC we did approach these some years back but they were "hard work" to say the least. It's a shame but unless there admin has changed you could find you are :brickwall.

Nurse Gladys 02 November 2009 09:52 PM

I think any kids charity in this country is great - my only reservation however is that the kids in a hospice generally have loving & caring parents / family around them. Kids in a childrens home generally don't....

Just my opinion.

mrs_b4 02 November 2009 10:35 PM

Agree with Hil's there are many care homes in Essex and I'm sure they'd love the car's aswell

Mark, I was involved with a fund raising event for them earlier this year, and tbh they didn't make it easy for us.

Hil's, a very valid point. Nate had asked for some suggestions for suitable homes, etc.
Yvette do you know of any suitable care homes?

Supercue 03 November 2009 08:15 AM

As mentioned ring Social Services or County Hall and I'm sure there will be loads available.
I do agree with Hils, the whole point of this was for the under privileged kids. It would be ideal if we can go along these lines.

I'm in Chemlsford this afternoon if I have time I'll pop in ;)
