GT3 after a deep clean

I had my GT3 at Autofarm for some work to be done. Replaced a cracked front bumper and had it valeted. They took some lovely pictures...

yoza 28 October 2009 08:56 AM

Nice.

Dont you just hate getting a full valet and driving it home in the rain.

dpb 28 October 2009 09:35 AM

I reckon id go for a slightly more adventurous colour , if i could ever afford one lol

Trout 28 October 2009 09:48 AM

This is the adventurous colour - this is not silver this is M&S Polar Silver - only 4 GT3s in this colour in the UK.

I dare you to spot the difference ;)

I love that car!

One of my dream cars as well....in black.

Moley 28 October 2009 10:11 AM

Stunning

Matteeboy 28 October 2009 10:22 AM

Lovely - but they cleaned it so hard the number plates fell off.

Hope they didn't miss "behind the ears?"

At least it's not black - mine's an almost daily job. Thank god for the new pressure washer - your wheels look a but fiddly to clean too.

Lovely motor.

Lovely motor.

wheels look quite retro -- remind me of the original rosepetal magnesium Minilites -- as fitted to the works minis of the sixties.

Matteeboy 28 October 2009 01:01 PM

Hodgy - agreed but maybe a bit bigger?!

Evo tested all the Minis from original to latest Works Cooper S. They seem to like the original of both incarnations.

I love Minilites - true classics.

They wanted some promo pics as it is such a lovely car!! So they took the plates off which they prefer to photoshopped plates.

No. He's still driving it. :D

jameswrx 29 October 2009 11:42 PM

Nice! Get the wheels done in a darker shade though, silver cars and silver wheels = boring to look at. That'd look so much better with anthracite rims :D

Trout 30 October 2009 12:12 AM

Believe it or not - if you get the wheels recoloured it will invalidate the OPC warranty! Even fitting black GT3 RS wheels are regarded as non-OEM!!

GC8 30 October 2009 08:30 AM

Has any of this been tested David? Some OPCs state that fitting your own new battery also invalidates your entitlement, but I wonder if anyone has actually been refused a new warranty because of it?

Unless you get them done by your OPC.
Problem is, it'll cost you 2-3 times as much and they only use the same company as you would if you had them done yourself.

There's a couple of threads running over on PH re warranty issues.
Seems like Porsche have a few get out clauses.

beef-on-the-bone 30 October 2009 05:46 PM

^^^^^^^

a shame, but would look great on darker wheels :)

Porsche's customer policy guideline:

1. Pull customers trousers down.
2. Bend customer over.
3. Apply lube or not depending on how many cayennes sold this month.
4. **** customer on presentation of invoice.
5. Wait until they've left, and laugh hysterically.

dpb 30 October 2009 09:05 PM

Fairer than ford then :D

Norman Dog 30 October 2009 09:05 PM

:notworthy One of these days I'll own something like that....

What's the running costs like?

Fangoria 30 October 2009 10:01 PM

i'm still waiting for Porsche to confirm the Build date and then delivery on my GT3 Version 2....
I'll need to call Porsche Leeds - updates have been non-existent in the last 2 months.... at this rate we'll be in summer by the time I get....

Trout 30 October 2009 11:01 PM

When I tried to buy the 996/2 GT3 from Leeds they never even called me back!

As for warranty - it depends. They carry out an inspection to renew a warranty. If it passes that inspection then you are covered. If you subsequently have some work done - for example change the stereo to the speakers you 'could' invalidate your warranty. Some OPCs are strict, some aren't.

So the only answer is, it depends!

This is well covered on Porsche Owners site.

Trout 30 October 2009 11:04 PM

Running costs are not too serious. Service intervals are 12k miles or two years, plus a brake service every two years. Maybe £3,000 a year including warranty costs, tyres and brakes.

J4CKO 31 October 2009 06:11 PM

Looks fantastic.
