Hi folks!

Just wondering if anyone has upgraded their discs and used the original pads. I know it has been done the other way around with varying results (opinions) as to effectiveness. I'm looking for a better set up for normal road use with out having to prod the brakes every now and again to keep some heat in them / deglaze.

Thanks in advance
Pat

Pat "What a first class post"!!!
I have EBC's turbo groove disks. I tied green pads.. Warped the disks twice. Then tried reds but they wore out faster than the car drinks gas!! back to original pads. Fine for me. I tend to drive better not relying on a better brake set up.

Thanks for the nod Luke. Do the turbo groove discs work better than the OEM discs with the OEM pads though? I think thats what you are saying but just in case.

They look better!!! I think they do.. But the main reason that I fitted them is I can upgrade again to Pagid pads if I wish. The disks do make a slight noise on hard braking.. But all drilled grooved disks do. I am temted to say.... Try original disks and Pagid pads. This is what i would do as a start point again.

I used the same combination - EBC Turbo Groove discs with standard Mintex pads. Aside from the fact that they roar like mad, I recon they are only good for 10000 miles. I'm thinking of gooding to Mintex 1144 material seeing as they appear to be cheap (Cheap Mintex post). Anyone comment?

EBC guarantee the EBC TGD disc / Green Stuff combo for
30000kms, that's what EBC Brakes Norway have told me, and
it is also stated on their homepage.
Provided no extreme use / competition blabla...

But I guess the odd track day is excepted, as this is what they market their pads/discs for. The TGD discs have been uprated with higher grade material and V4 pads now have an EC90 approval with
less aggressive compound, so I guess they may work better togehter than before. I hav driven 700kms with this combination, and think it's time to check what it's capable of pretty soon......

Regards,
Simen.
