Afterburner on a 2007 2.5 STI Hawkeye
Advice please fellow lovers of the burble!!!:notworthy I am about to pick up a 2007 hawkeye STI and i really want to put a nice loud back box that will emphasize the burble. I don't want to re-mortgage the house and I have heard the Afterburner vortex by H&S is pretty good any thoughts lads and ladies??:brickwall

well i had the after burner r.3" version catback, and as it wasnt loud enough ive now got blitz nur spec.,the blitz is deeper and a fair bit louder, i would say.only had the vortex for 4 weeks

I much prefer the Afterburner over Blitz, I had a Blitz Nur Spec on my 2005 WRX before Afterburner, when I changed I was amazed at how much more responsive it felt and how much better it sounded.
Afterburner for me everytime, best affordable system about IMO. |
Some of MY07 RB320's have gone for, HKS Supergragger, Blitz Nur-Spec R & Nur-Spec s, with very good burble results.
I also believe that retaining the Prodrive backbox with a de-resonated centre sectione gives a fair bit of burble back! |
It might be different on the new age cars but i had my classic fully decatted with a prodrive backbox and it sounded no louder than my honda civic work car. my mate who has a nur spec r on his P1 said my car did not sound like a subaru. Then i fitted an afterburner vortex, what an improvement - not just talking about the noise the improvement at 5000 rpm was totally astonishing car would pull cleanly to the red line, than when the prodrive system was on. i love mine to bits ,but if i were to change would go for the blitz, but for the dosh dont think youll beat the vortex. It is also the most powerfull system made by haywood & scott.
