Just wondering if anyone knows anyone who'll fit a NEO4.1 chip, which I can now buy pretty easily.

Daz,
Me being the supposed PS2 expert.I ain't followed the 'scene' recently so what's the difference between Neo 4 and 4.1???? :( Cheers m8, Nick.. P.S: At a guess - Is it a direct boot version for DVD's? (I seem to remember 4.0 having to have a swap trick with an original DVD that had a larger TOC) |
Hi NIK!
I think its a clone, but it now supports the new DVD drivers you can get for PS2. Messiah has been cloned now too = ELVIS and definitely exists. -DV [Edited by DazV - 3/15/2002 10:16:02 PM] |
Isn't the 4.1 a Neo 4 with Clip??
clip ,clips over main Neo chip and reduces the number of wires to solder to ps2. |
Biggest problem I have now is actually finding me someone who can fit a NEO4.1 or Elvis to my PS2, DOH!
|
Daz,
U know it makes sense to get a Messiah/Elvis or whatever you wanna call it.It is a b@stard to fit if you have a v3 mainboard (v4's are a little easier!) but the added benefit of no swap trick more than compensates in my honest opinion! Good luck m8 :D Nick.. |
Nick - the Messiah is the cleaner solution, keeping the boot screen intact, etc... I can buy a Region Free DVD disc for £15.
When I say I've bought a NEO4.1, I was about to, when I found a supplier doing Messiahs/Elvis. Is there anything the Messiah won't boot ? -DV |
No,the messiah will direct boot everything.Sometimes,my machine needs a quick reset on some games as I get the message "Please insert a valid PS2 disk....." but after the reset it's fine. You know it makes sense to go for Messiah.Btw,have a friend after a Messiah can you either post the url on here or send it to me via email? ;)
Cheers m8, Nick.. |
Oh,one other thing.I thought PSi2 mag or whatever it's called were givin away a region free disk worth £20 this month.Worthwhile havin a butchers at your local WHSmiths! :D
Cheers, Nick.. |
Yeah, the region free is for PAL consoles - mine's a US machine.
Will send you the link via email. |
just a note
Messiah doesn't support FADE protected Disks!:( NEO 4 defeats FADE protected Disks;) LOL ya takes ya choice [Edited by scooby nutter - 3/18/2002 6:59:15 PM] |
Mr Nutter - which games feature FADE ?
Surely they can be patched ? |
just read about it on ISO News,FADE protected disks are already in use on PC.
Dont know how many Games use/will be using it for PS2. I'm sure Kalisto/Orgasm etc etc will release a crack for the games. Like any other protection ,it can be by-passed:) suppose its like a footy sim i heard about,if it was a pirate version your team couldnt win no matter how long you played it,think it was for psx. |
Yeah,I've heard about Fade protection too but like Scoobynutter says the protection will be defeated without doubt.......
Daz,you know it makes sense to go for the Messiah!!! (I'm startin to sound like Delboy now "Rodney, you know it makes sense...." :D:D:D:D) Cheers, Nick.. P.S: Daz - Never got your email btw.... |
Nick, you've got mail.
|
ScoobyNutter, tried that chipinstaller site, but there's nobody in the North East who'll do it.
I'd rather have someone recommended who I'll KNOW will do a good job if you know what I mean, rather than take pot luck with my £200 console. So if you know anyone who'll do a Messiah... -DV |
Dav, I know someone that lives in Whitby (near Manchester) that had his done. All I know is that he sent his away. I'll try and find out tomorrow where he sent it.

Daz,
I've heard Carl Bulger does a lot of Messiah installs (I'm on his mailing list and he said that he's just received 750  Messiahs) He's based in Lancaster and I seem to remember Scoobynutter gettin his console chipped with Neo4 by this guy..... I posted his website sometime ago if you've still got it? :D Cheers m8, Nick.. |
Try your local corner shop ;)
Sorry :( |
Guys
So what is the final conclusion on a mod chip then, messiah or neo 4 |
