smoothing and polishing inlet manifold
I am looking into what is involved in smoothing and polishing a my99 classic inlet manifold.
i would like to do this as a project over the colder months. i have access to normal hand tools, saws, drills etc anyone got a how to guide or any tips? i know it is going to be hard work, but when i see the end results it makes them feel even better knowing that you done it your self. thanks ian |
someone posted a thread up not so long ago having done this, apparently it was quite hard work, results look stunning though.

I found this when I looked into doing it; aluminum polishing guide | Poleringsguide
hence why I didnt :lol1: |
Just plenty of elbow grease mate,
If you have a dremel that comes in handy, and loads of sand belts. I started mine and it took days just to get rid of most of the casting lines. I can't be bothered with it now. I know RCM do them on an exchange basis, can't remember how much though. |
i have done loads of alluminium polishing on my bike, its alot of hard and repetative work but very satisfying if you get it right.
|
i'll do it for a good price..
and if you give me enough time chris |
thanks for the links all.
will halfords sell the drill sanding bits and buffers ? |
also does anyone know what is saft to cut and not to cut off?
i would like to leave the prongs that hold the ht black box thing on, and a couple of the earthing ones behind it, but everything else can go |
