UK300 immo, install on EU WRX2001

Hello,

I just got ECU from UK300 with the idea to use it with openecu on my 2001 bug-eye.

The numbers on the both ECU are 100% identical

Unfortunately when I connect the UK300 ECU and try to start the engine, it didn't fire and the red key on the dash light.

With the original ECU the car start immediately. It also start with the metal part of the key and the bottom plastic.
I am not sure if in the car I have immo. will try to start only with the metal part of the key - seems not easy to remove it from the plastic.

What I have to do in order to use the new ecu?

Can I re-flash an ecu from UK300 wrx 2001 with open ecu before fixing the immo (pairing my keys with the new ecu)
In case there will be no immo issue after reflash, I will skip my visit to the subaru dealer to re-set the immo

went to subaru dealer and:

1: change the old ecu with new one from UK300. The car didn't start with my keys
2: the dealer peer one of my keys to the new ecu. Car start with one key, didn't start with the other.
3: change back to the old ecu. The car didn't start with any key.
4: change to new ecu. Peer both keys to UK300 ecu. The car run with both keys.
5: change to old ecu. do not run with any of the keys.

The dealer do not know how to make so that the old and new ecu will run with the same keys, or old ecu with one key and new ecu with the other key.

old ecu is with ecutek!

Any idea how to do it. Please send me a PM

if I use the default rom from scoobipedia A4SE900D (AF531 7555) what will be the consequences? Or I must use my original rom for modifications.

If it's an old EcuTek tune on your original ECU you can overwrite it with your open source software. Only after 2006 were ECU's locked out to anything other than EcuTek.

The 2001 ECU original ROM is A4SE700D but the 900D will do just as well and will work with your new UK300 ECU. So long as the external ECU version numbers printed on the casings are the same on both there will be no problems. It's possible to use a ROM from an 03 WRX as well but there is no benefit from doing that as you're going to be remapping it anyway so stick with the MY01 or 02 ROM versions.

You won't get both ECU's to run off the same key at the same time. The ECU has internal immobiliser codes specific to that ECU and the keys are coded with the internal ECU code so unfortunately it cannot be done. Unless you copy the internal hard coded firmware that's on the ECU with the firmware from the other ECU, and it has to be done witih the ECU open and on the bench, then that's a whole new bag of spanners and not worth bothering with as it could brick the ECU if not done correctly.

thanks for the reply.
I will stick with UK300 ecu, first have to read and backup the soft from it.

Then I will try to customize the maps.

I wont bother with the ecutek one since I am not able to backup it. Re-flashing means I will loose the ecutek.

The only question with UK300 is the function of the additional board inside , and the cut pin.

With UK300 the car seems to hold the same boost (1.2bar on the guage), have better low end, and lack some top end power. No logs yet done to compare with ecutek ones

Replied to you (finally) on OpenEcu.
