Jon, try posting on NASOIC loads on there :)

scooby-doo-where-r-u 16 October 2009 05:02 PM

I looked into this earlier in the year and the closest I came were a few guys on NASIOC running 9's and that still requires some work, arch roll and quite a pull in most cases, some also pull the lip so it physically protrudes too!

The pulling is more successful on 4 door cars, type r's and the likes can get issues; dents can appear in the rear qtr's if pulled tooooo much, 4 door cars obviously have more strength in that area. It was because of this I decided against it, I also didn’t want to risk any cracked paint.

You need to run heavy camber also; not so great on UK roads and probably a tyre stretch too to aid in clearance – Can look funny if you don’t do the above, like incorrect wheel fitment, which it is I guess!

The pictures below are of cars running on 9's

This car is running 9J with an ET37

These are only 8.5J, but shows the lip pull quite well

Hope that helps

wow, well even the nasioc lads think its a bad idea! lol

seen 17 x 9.5 and well, no chance im doing that much arch work just for wheels!

iv no doubt its possible but...hmmm! that red ones not exactly lowered is it lol!

dilbob 17 October 2009 02:39 PM

Bealescooby 17 October 2009 09:08 PM

beef-on-the-bone 18 October 2009 12:09 AM

mike@tdsw 18 October 2009 01:30 AM

I was hoping Id be able to roll on some 18x10j et12's like this on my classic. I guess looking at that 9j et32 pic I wont be able to pull it off lol.

Again been told the largest wheel tire combo that can be put on a standerd sti
are 19x8x35 and the only wheel I can find that should be a exact fit on them sizes
Is the Dare hiro 5 spoke black chrome rim. But did spot in this months Japanese
Performance mag that Oli Clark has got Speedline forged 8x19x40 tires on his so
So no its possible with some arch work!!!!!

wrighty338 19 October 2009 01:15 PM

i didnt want the biggest wheels

just some 18x9.5's but would require seeeerious arch work.
