Brake fluid pipes - Item codes and how much?
Hi I need to replace the brake fluid pipes that run from the fluid resevoir to the wheel arch where the brake lines connect but can find the item code or the technical name anywhere. They're for the drivers side front and rear on a hawkeye WRX.
Does anyone know the codes and prices? |
No idea on prices, but there's a pretty comprehensive parts catalog here:
Brake piping, Subaru IMPREZA ? Subaru parts catalog (above link is for '07 and later cars, but the site has earlier too) |
Any garage should be able to make and fit the pipes for you :)

Always found it cheaper and usually a bit easier to just buy the copper brake pipe from a motor factors and make my own up as it's never an easy job to fit a pipe thats been pre-shaped to the car without having to bend it about anyway as they usually tend to run above things like the petrol tank which make it awkward.
Just remember to make sure you are very carefull removing the old pipes from the clips (these tend to get brittle) because if the new pipes are not cliped into the appropriate places to secure them then it will fail the MOT. |
Definately better off making the pipes you need yourself as Subaru only sell the metal pipes in sets, I.E. all of the underbonnet pipework @ £230 front to rear pair @ £130 & rear pipe @ £35

thank to everyone. Its only th nut that attachs the pipe to the brake line thats the problem, is there any way of just replacing that?
|
If you had the pipe making equipment then you could cut the very end of the pipe off, slide the knackered union off and then fit a new one and then re-crimp the end of the pipe. ;)

You can buy a flaring tool for not a lot of money :)
