Rocker cover gaskets :thumb: best to do both sides to save you doing the same job twice

bomber1769 07 October 2009 01:04 PM

are they easy to do can i do it myself or best get a garage to do them

bigsigh 07 October 2009 01:17 PM

not hard to do DIY, but very fiddly and akward, get some quality liquid gasket to go in along with the new gaskets as it says in the manual

would it def be rocker gasket ? wheres best to get them from im looking on ebay dont want to buy them if thats not prblem

bomber1769 07 October 2009 01:32 PM

how do i no wot code my engine is would it be EJ20N or EJ25D

bigsigh 07 October 2009 04:23 PM

98 turbo 2000 is a 2 litre engine and will there fore be EJ20 , the EJ25 is the 2.5 litre engine from the later cars.

if its the rockers you will be able to see it weeping out and dripping on the headers, its a common problem and well documented on here. The best option is to buy genuine subaru rocker cover gaskets, wheather u buy from a dealer or a specialst thats up to you.
