Has anyone switched to Virgin bundle (with Netbook)?
 

Hi

My PC is dying, AOL is hopeless in my area (probably due to BT) as I only get 512k speed :(

AOL blames BT and vice verca so I'm looking to cut both out of my life...

The only option appears to be Virgin as they do without BT, and a couple of friends are raving about their 10mb internet connections being very solid (at around 8-9mb most times)

The way I'm approaching this is by looking to go for their complete TV/phone/internet package as the overall saving appears to be good.

At the moment I have Sky+ and am very happy with it.. And there lies the dilema! Do I risk the complete change and whilst improving my Internet (hopefully), risk having a not-so-good TV box/recorder thing?
Any thoughts and help regarding reliability would be much welcomed.

Also, the netbook appears attractive. Whilst I'll eventually invest in a new PC / Laptop is there any gain for me going for this too? Are there hidden costs in acquiring one of these in the Virgin package? I quite like the thought of taking it away on business due to it's compactness and being able to remain online.

Cutting out AOL from your life is certainly one of the best things you can do, it's completely outdated and horrific.

I'd be inclined to ditch AOL, but stick with BT for phone service only, and get your DSL from another provider, of which there are quite a few. You may find that your internet service is a lot better after dumping AOL.

I use Virgin and have never had any issues. Plus on the TV side they offer their V+ box which does HD and recording like Sky+ only its better.

I get my Broadband (10 MB (and usually at least 9.5) all the time, phone and TV from Virgin - never really had any problems.

I don't really use land line so I'm not bothered about retaining BT for that.
As long as I get a BB connection that is reliable is all I care about at the mo.

Why not just get Virgin phone and BB and keep Sky?

Good point Brun. But I thought if I'm going to do it I may as well go all the way and save even more..
Small risk if V+ is crap but from what I have heard, it's very good.

My Parents and her indoor's parents both have the V+. I personally much prefer how Sky+ operates, in particular, the Sky planner is way ahead of Virgin. Maybe it's whatever you're used to :thumb:
