RIBs (boats)
Looking to replace my small Zodiac RIB. I'm thinking about a 4.5-5m RIB, with solid hull rather that inflatable hull and an outboard of about 50-60hp. Anyone use one like this and want to offer advise/opinion on what to go for and what to avoid?
This will mostly be used in the sea - just for a bit of fun, although may tow a ringo etc on occassion. |
my father in law has a 4.5 mtr one -- we used it this year in Greece -- towing a Double Dog about etc
although I would have thought a 60hp might be a little underpowered (i,m no expert though) we had a 200hp on the back -- could pull a double dog with ease and we had 12 odd people on the boat here it is with me and the wife -- with my youngest - Prosper at the helm http://i787.photobucket.com/albums/y...2/866_2176.jpg |
That's a nice looking boat. Looks more than 4.5m to me - I guess it's how you measure them.
I'm looking at something more like this. http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...BKZGTtrEdw.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...DkBKZGUo4K.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...hzBKZGU9Lr.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...VPLBKZGVR5.jpg |
yes maybe your right
come to think of it 28ft seems to ring a bell (which just looking on the web is 8 mtrs odd) good fun though -- the 200hp motor really gave it some kick how much is the one pictured ---- about 14k? |
£14k - I hope not, maybe able to get it for around £4-5k ;)

interesting
I only say that because my father in law sold the one pictured in August and replaced it with a slighlty bigger one I think he got 32K for it a half decent 50hp engine has got to be worth 2k at least |
