how can i tell if my car has been mapped

hi im running 1.3 to 1.4 bar in my wrx sti version 3 if the gauge is accurate i get no fuel cut off so im guessing thats ok but is there a way i can find out if it has been mapped thanks for your help.

To properly tell you would have to take it to a mapper and get them to check...

Sounds like it is remapped running that much boost, but better to check properly for piece of mind!!

Check the ecu it as the standard ecu cannot be remapped (not over here anyway yet) it may very well have an aftermarket ecu or some Jap chip perhaps

hi you say that much boost but if it was to hi the fuel cut off would cut in wouldnt it i cant turn it down theres no bleed valve .

MY94BlueWRX 04 October 2009 11:06 PM

No you're right it would cut... Hence 'that much' boost would imply some kind of remap/chip upgrade.

Unless it has some kind of FCD (Fuel Cut Defender) installed...?

banana42_123 04 October 2009 11:12 PM

stupid question would somebody fit one of those without re mapping and thanks for every ones help.

myblackwrx 04 October 2009 11:14 PM

Yes the Japs seem to fit a boost controller (of some sort) and then just use a FCD as well.
When my 93wrx came over with some weird electronic stuff on it.

I aggree... my old 94 import came over with all sorts of **** installed!

Best to get it check out if you're not sure what you're looking for, and start with a good original base and modify it yourself... at least you'll know what's been done to it then!!
