engine swop

hi all
engine is knackered in my my98 terzo, so looking for a new engine, my question is, if i get one from an older car how much work is envolved do i have to swop heads or is it just the inlet i need to swop, also if i get a wrx engine which seems to be the likely choice as most engines around are from the wrx is it gonna have diff injectors and turbo to mine making it so i need to swop to the wrx ecu as well, i assume all what i need to do can be done just wanna see how big a job it is or am i best trying to get a 97/98 engine making the swop much easier also how much is there between a uk engine and a wrx.

thanks
damian.

Keep year for year engines, this doesn't apply to sti engines, difference betwwn the wrx and uk engines are the turbo, but keep the engine to the same year and your sorted. You have a phase 1.5 engine (97 and 98 year engines)

i have just put a phase 1 lump in my97 car. its simple...

keep your turbo, alternator, starter, PAS pump. that way you keep your loom on and its no drama.

you will basicly need to use the WRX bottom end with your orig parts. You will have to change the alloy pipe that sits on top of the lump (that the rad top hose goes to) as these are different and your phase 1.5 mani wont fit. (4 10mm bolts) Swap all your sensors over just for piece of mind.

Whilst its out do ya clutch, ya thermostat and obviosly all ya gaskits! I done all this on the road side (all be it a quiet road) with a halfords special £50 tool kit.

PS this is the 1st scoob lump i have ever touched... there easy to work on!!

Good luck!
