Anti roll bars
 

Would I really notice much of a difference in handling by upgrading the front and rear anti roll bars on my 06 STI? This is a road car used for mixed driving. It is never tracked.

I'm in two minds as to whether it is worth buying them.

Yes.... this could be positive or negative difference, depending on size of ARB's used and settings chosen. :D

On a standard Newage STi, I saw a great improvement moving to uprated ARB's and ALK (together with solid droplinks if needed for MY of car). Together with a proper geometry set-up. :)

A much flatter and sharper drive. One of the best bangs for your buck on a Newage imo.

Great thanks. I've been told by the specialist who looks after my car that drop links are not needed as mine are good enough for road use as standard.

If not fitted with the ALK does it have much of an impact?

How much are ALKs as I may consider both if not excessive.

Oh and my car is spoilerless on prodrive springs if that makes much of a difference.

+1 running solid drops & 25r 22f. Set to 27/25.:-)

I never tried just an Anti Lift Kit on it's own, but it increases the castor.... which is good! Ask any geometry expert, which will tell you it helps braking, acceleration, turn-in etc! :)

These are about £150.

The whole set up is 'good enough' tbh but even on the road, solid drop links make a very positive difference. If you look at the OEM links you will see there is an awful lot of movement side to side as well as up and down. Well it may be personal preference but I am so much happier with the Whiteline KLC32's which have drastically reduced the side to side movement of the drop links.:thumb:

Night & Day difference I would say. I changed both for Whiteline's and even changing the setting on the front has a massive difference. Like Shaun says - a much flatter & sharper feel

Is there any aspect of your car's handling which you specifically want improving?

My main issue with the handling is not getting much feedback from the front. Before the Impreza, I always had rear wheel drive cars, so knew exactly what the front was doing in a bend and could feel the limit of the back just before it stepped out.

Now I know my AWD Impreza will feel different but a bit more feedback would not go amiss.

After speaking with the local specialist who looks after the car, I've decided to start by putting a Whiteline ARB on the back, upgrading the bushes on the front and the steering rack. Hopefully, that will do the job but if not can always look at the front ARB and drop links after.
