How many settings on AST Sportline?

How many turns is it? I'm sure from memory it's 12 or 14?

My son has been playing havoc with the adjusters and rear risers!! :nono: I've noticed the rebound harder one side of the car than the other so I may as well start from scratch.

Was chatting to a friend of mine (who also owns a Scoob) who has brought some BC (ER Series) coilovers but I am sure he said he had 60 turn settings on his? I could have miss heard him?

So whats the best way. Set all of them to hardest setting and then turn to soft a couple of times to take out the harshness?

Also whats the difference between Sportline I and Sportline II's?

Any help or input would be grateful.

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve the AST coilovers have 12 settings from soft to hard. I agree start from the hardest setting and click back till you feel the car suits your driving style.

The Sportline I has a 22m shaft whereas the Sportline II has a 45mm shaft, that is the diference between the two kits.

I know several people with AST's, including myself. Usual method is to start from softest and then click up to hardest.

Typical "fast road" setup is:

front - 7 clicks up from soft
rear - 5 clicks up from soft

For a more general, every day setup try 4 from softest on the front, and 2 on the rear, maybe 5/3.

On the track I up mine to 11/9 or even 12/10 depending on the track.

This is all based on advice from Iain Litchfield by the way, relating to the full "Type 20" package that includes uprated ARB's and whiteline ALK, but I can't imagine not having these would make much difference.

That said, it's the difference of 2 between front and back that might vary, as it can have an affect on understeer.

HTH :)

Cheers for the input guys very helpful.

Banny, still not sure if I have the version I or II's. lol Anything to go by that will give me a clue?

I'm still thinking of trying the hardest setting first and work down. I could be wrong as per the info added by Tim Hardisty.

Tim, can you confirm if this is based on the number of turns on 17" or 18" wheels/tyres?

I run 18" 225 /40's.

I run 17's with 235/45's - I guess your settings might need to be different if the unsprung weight is different as a result of different wheels. The fact that yours are 18s might mean you want them softer, to compensate for the perhaps harsher ride of the lower profile tyres, but I'd be surprised to be honest.

Best thing is to try a setting, drive for a few days, then try adjusting them and seeing what you prefer.
