How do I remove the rear diff fill plug and drain plug.

Afternoon folks,

I had planned to change the rear diff oil in my 2004 WRX today. However when I looked under the car I found that the fill plug and the drain plug are square shaped ! Has anyone any idea what size these are and how do you get them out ? Do I need to buy a specific socket ? Am I going to end up taking this to a garage :( !

As ever gents, any advice is appreciated !

Cheers,

Wilky. :thumb:

Have you tried sticking the end of a 1/2" square drive wrench in them? Should do the trick :)

Just to let you know it will be tight, as they put liquid sealer on the thread.
