Voltage Help Problem!

Hi all,
Well the car is now running!!! Slight problem!

The voltage jumps between 12-14 volts up and down and continues for 2-3 minute intervals. Its strange as it makes lights and more concerning the fuel pump buzz up and down. However does not affect the idle. The alternator has just been reconditioned while it was out of the car!

Any ideas?

Cheers

Jin

try a different alternator if possible.....

Jintyper 19 September 2009 09:34 PM

Bryan,
Just went in garage and checked and the strap is on nice and tight, back to the drawing board!!

Trying a different sounds like a good idea! I will dig one out the garage on Monday and try that out. Frustrating as just finished the major build after 14 months and ready to run up those all important 500 miles before mapping the Autronic

Bad news it still does it, got a doubt that the alternator is at fault. Will get hold of another tommorow and see if that sorts it.

let me know if you find the problem mate. Im in the same boat after changing the alternator, although both ones I have tried are used and not recon'd.

Im getting below 12V on a brand new battery. Will keep my eye on this thread!

Does anybody know if low voltage can be anything but the alternator??

just in-case your not aware that classic and new age will fit but the out-put is different...and yes thats with the same plug fitment.
