Anybody changed dials before? HELP!!!
 

Managed to bugger my clocks last night!

Snapped the needles on the temp and fuel gauges fitting lockwood dials :mad:

Got a new set of clocks on the way, so can anybody tell me how to change the dials without damaging the bits?

Can't really drive the car all weekend with no clocks now.

use a couple of spoons to ease the needles off ,place the actual spoony bit of the spoons under the needles and push down on the handles gently and the needles should come off quite easily (yes i know it sounds stupid but it works :) )

I managed to get the needles out with a screw driver. They have a very small metal spindle that pushes back into the holes. I did the damage cos the spindles wouldn't go back into the holes!!

Any particular way of getting them back in? Do they have to go in in the exact same position as they came out or will the re-set themselves?

Right i've just removed the needles on my spare of dials (using the spoon method :lol1:).
The speedo/rev needle seems to have to go back in the same position as it came off the water/fuel needles doesn't seem to matter.
My speedo needle came off quite easily but the rev counter one is quite hard to put on i think you may need to very firm but careful but putting them back on.

I broke the speedo one completely but the rev counter was easy! How did you get the fuel & temp ones back in without busting them!?

Fuel and temp ones were easy,i gripped the round part where the needle joins it and gently pushed it back on ,they were quite tight though.
I think it seems to be pot luck on how tight the fit is.
