Replica watches. Interesting pictures Yoza Etc take a look. . .

We've got a subcontactor at work for valeting who always passes comments about my watches. Now, I'm no Yoza but I have a few nice £800-1200 watches, mostly Tags, an Omega Seamaster., Maurice Lacroix, Raymond Weil etc.

He told me he has a "friend" who can get 99.9% accurate reps for certain watches and I said "Boll0cks!"

He emailed me earlier with two pictures and I have to say that I am astonished at the accuracy of these watches. Obviously, I do not own a Rolex Sub or Breitling, but they look far better than they should to my untrained eye. . . .

There must be a massive market in these TBH!

yoza 10 September 2009 07:30 PM

There are obvious differances just from the two pictures posted.

But if a fake is what you want, pay your money.....but dont pay more than £80 for either of them.

PS. If your going to buy a fake never buy a "gold" one, as the plate is so thin you can rub it off with your thumb.

On a very rare £500-£650 fakes the gold is rolled so not plated, basically it is a thin sheet of gold rolled onto a stainless case, this wont fade.

I'd be interested to know the difference Yoza if you could point them out with a couple of pics of what to look out for. A mate of mine has the Rolex above who says its real but only paid £150 for it!!!

yoza 10 September 2009 07:54 PM

First the Submariner.

The bracelet ends or lugs dont fit snug, also the centre bar of the lug is blatently gold plated as you can clearly see the join to the Stainless.

The bezel insert doesnt fit snug, there is too much gap, also the pip is wrong.

The etched coronet under the lens at 6 o'clock is tou large and prominent.

There is no AR on the crystal, and the cyclops is cut wrong.

The lume paint is too thin.

The inner chapter ring is too deep, and the wrong colour.

The crown thread is wrong and the O ring is in the wrong position.

The SuperOcean

The inner chapter ring is missing lume, it is also too steep.

The numbers on the bezel are rough cut, not smooth.

The flying B on the bezel is too big.

The lugs at the jaw fitting dont fit.

No AR on the lens and no blue tint.

The first middle lug on the bracelet is the wrong shape.

The lume on the indecese is not thick enough.

The date window is too small and the date font is wrong.

And thats just from 2 pictures......show me the back and the clasp and we will be here all night.

I wouldn't buy one I don't really like the idea of it being a fake, I was actually interested in Knowing if they are 99 percent accurate and what are the flaws that you mention. How can you tell Yoza?

RJM25R 10 September 2009 07:57 PM

You already answered!

RJM25R 10 September 2009 07:59 PM

If someone wore one socially, do you reckon you could pick it out? I could spot a dodgy tag I reckon. . .

I can tell because I have handled, worked on, owned, yearned for, studied, high end watches for as long as I can remember.

When you live and breath watches, you just know, thats how it is.

I can tell the differance between a $300 fake powered by a remade Chinese ETA Valjoux 7750 and the movement in a genuine item by sound alone.

Im ill, I tell thee... :)

J4CKO 10 September 2009 08:54 PM

I would be quite happy with a replica, to be honest if I wore a Rolex everyone would assume its a fake even if it were real, in fact if it were real and was ten grand I would tell people it is so I didnt look so much like a flash cnut, I think a nice watch is great but its for me, not to impress anyone else.

Can you get a replica Seamaster, the old plain style ?

paulwrxboro 10 September 2009 09:18 PM

yoza knows his eggs

shame this is a watch thread then ;)

RRH 10 September 2009 09:56 PM

It was the blue on the crown that gave it away for me ;)

fatscoobfella1 10 September 2009 10:06 PM

^^^^^^^^^

That would be a piece of protective plastic

RRH 10 September 2009 10:09 PM

That would be why I added ';)' ;)

fatscoobfella1 10 September 2009 10:12 PM

Ahhh..

Just thought you was trying to be clever.

Yes pretty much you can get a replica of most watches :)

Its a funny thing, my Bro, Sis in Law, Sis and Bro in Law all have genuine Tag's yet everyone always asks them are they real or fake

I guess it comes down to the area :lol1:

I quite like this one

Fake

https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/...o/P2173739.jpg

Real

https://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog...-steelband.jpg

Although I prefer it with the rubber strap

https://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog...rubberband.jpg

Even the Bezel on the fake is ceramic as per the original

I like the idea of the replicas as there are some nice watches out there, but I could never really justify the cost of owning a 1k+ watch

Sonic' 10 September 2009 10:18 PM

Actually its quite a poor comparison with the pics I posted as the 2 real ones (lol) are both CG

the difference between the SLR replica and Real one is

AR on rep is too bluish
Inner chapter ring comes with slightly bolder font
Sunken datewheel on rep.

and thats it the rest is spot on

but then its not that cheap a replica

Rapid17 10 September 2009 10:44 PM

I like the watch threads; more please.

Geoff. :)

No idea because it's a lad at work, not me! I can ask if you like?

Jamescsti 11 September 2009 08:46 AM

There are definately fake Seamasters out there, a mate of mine bought one in Turkey, looked quite good till you layed it next to my genuine Seamaster then the difference was obvious, that was before you actually picked it up and felt the weight difference, bezel movement etc. He did claim it was real for quite a while though

Bravo2zero_sps 11 September 2009 09:19 AM

So how much does your mate charge for those 2 above? I like the Superocean.

:lol1: at the genuine fake watches hut, I wonder if he has another branch selling fake fake watches.

I think Simon made this comment because ALL $300 plus replicas come with this blue shrink wrap on the button ends, they also come with a small gold oval sticker on the screen saying SAFFIRE GLASS spelt like that... :)

They often look the part, but they fail quite quickly...if they are listed as water resistant, they are not.

If they are listed as waterproof tested to 3 ATM, they are splash proof.

Always check the returns policy if buying fake, as the address will always be different to the shipping address. The gaurantees are always worded " losely ", go to any Rep site that pops up on the top of this page and read the returns policy....

I have repaired / looked at / worked on / examined / thrown in the bin, many replica watches as the owners have never been able to return them.

All the trolling/insults by Janspeed has been deleted, I wish it was left as it was for all to see, but by the sounds of it most people have him sussed anyway.

PaulC72 12 September 2009 05:54 PM

Some say if you cut Yoza he bleeds cogs... ;-)

Damn I did have something else to write but it went clean out my head, that'll teach me for having a fake brain.

The same can be said for the other thread, so lets leave it at that.

DaveBeck 12 September 2009 07:34 PM

I love watches, can really appreciate craftmanship that goes into them.

Unfortunately the Navy doesnt pay me pop stars wages so i'd love to get a replica that looks like the real thing at a clance. Obviously someone like Yoza could spot it a mile off but im sure my mates couldnt tell ;)

RJM25R, can you get reps?
