Anything above 330-340bhp takes quite a bit of extra cash. What mods does it have now? I am not sure if the wagan runs a vf or td turbo, both of which max out around the 330bhp mark. Even for that level, you will need: -Exhaust system with decat or sport cat (£600-£900) -ECU - standard box in the the 1997 cars are not mapable (£1000) -Uprated panel filter - £45 -Look at the condition of the rest of the car. What are the brakes and suspension like? I would get these sorted before going for more power. Anything above this level of tune will require deep pockets and a reserve of around £4k if the engine goes pop. So think carefully! :thumb: |
380 has just got that nice ring to it lol and my bros skyline gtst is around that bhp brotherly love and plan to hit the nurberg this year together and dont want to eat dust lol. 330bhp would be fine mate dcat exhaust fitted already, k&N57i air going on (not sure if this is the best air filter or not) , yeah been told around 600 to 1000 quid for remap is there anything i should know before i get this done about remaping that is. think its a td turbo ill have to take a look again, got a DV26 BAILEY DUMP VALVE on the way.and just ordered plugs, hks turbo timmer fitted last night. egale f1 asy going on sat 225 40 18s

Buddy, check my spec out in the gallery. 380 BHP isn't cheap. Like someone said above, think about handling and brakes first as these are expensive too. For instance, my brake setup cost £2K..
Don't chase big numbers, build a car that drives well and that you can enjoy. So many guys chase figures because they think it's 'cool' to be running 400bhp, if the car handles like a shed what's the point. |
I bet your brothers skyline hasn't got 380bhp! :thumb:
A vta dumpvalve will do nothing other than make your car run worse. Trust me, been there, done that. If it is an induction kit, swap it back for original airbox and panel filter. If you are going to a track, concentrate of fluid change (everything), brakes, suspension and tyres. You will eat a gts if it is set up right. I would fit a front mount intercooler and get it mapped before you track it though and may be even an uprated oil pump. So many scoobies go tracking in a perfect condition and come minus a big end shell! |
Your best bet ( in my opinion ) is to have a re-think on your plans. These are the modifications I would do if I were in your position.
Nice exhaust system with de-cat Air filter Walbro fuel pump Decent set of front brakes Uprated pads all round Decent set of coilovers Have it mapped This will be a nice enjoyable car and destroy your brothers car on the track. Coilovers |
Oh and as stated above,
Stick that dump valve on eBay.... |
thanks
thanks alot guys, yeah been seeing alot of guys talking about uprated fule pumps ill have to look in to it. yeah going to scrap kn air filter and stick to uprated panel filter. what about dump valves whats the best one for my GF8 wagon sti. as for frontmount and coil overs deff going to get done before i go. had the old girl looked all over today and i need a new stearing rack my guys quoted 300 all in fitted is that good price sounded ok to me but iam no expert. also said i have a very slow leak in my rear diff said around the same for a replacement fitted other than that he said the car is good condition and engine is spot on, prob because its never been over 112mph lol got a second hand lightend flywheel for sale as there was one on my car already needs a slight skimm but its in good nic if any ones intrested. thanks for the tios again lads
