car got broken in to...what parts do i need?

Hi all, I regularly come on here but dont post much :wonder:

Just wanted some advice on what i need, my car is a gc8d import wrx and got broken into last night. Im so glad it didnt get stolen, just attempted to get stolem (thank god)

car only has damage around the steering column, i have some pics to show

What parts do i exactly need? and can i get a barrel from a subaru dealer or will it be tough seeing that its an import? I dont want to go for the 2 key route

First thing I would buy is a disc lok to cover the whole steering wheel! Luckily they didn't take it. Did you report it to the police?

dj219957 06 September 2009 07:46 PM

thats not damage circled in the last pic. they were not very clever thiefs. im not going to say how you steel these but it much simpler than the route they took by smashing the barrell. so simple i could not belive it when i changed my barrel.
the barrel is very easy to change. you can get a new one with key off ebay for about £25. you are gonna have to have 2 keys im afraid. you cant repair that. cant see subaru uk been able to supply a new barrel to match your key.

as above really, if anything a good visual deterrent as well. also i have blackjax fitted good for piece of mind, well worth it imo.

thanks guys, il call my local scooby dealer ans confirm if they can or cant get one in. Il call some scooby breakers or look on ebay

what a ball ache. I called the police

I just sold my Sierra RS Cosworth taking this in PX and my old car was fully bell'd up..

Any good breakers you can recommend?

Rally fan 555 06 September 2009 09:25 PM

Sorry to heat about the car, one option if you're goint to a breaker anyway would be to get a whole lock set and then you'll have the one key again - it's an option.

You can try Untitled for the parts, would be better going the full hog and getting the door locks done at the same time to keep with the one set of keys.

Tony:)

The only barrel you need is a double sawn off one of the 12 gauge kind:mad:

pisses me off when i hear about things like this, hope you get it all fixed soon:thumb:

oh trust me, after this is sorted im selling the car, buying an R1 and a gun.

G-Man1982 06 September 2009 11:44 PM

Sorry to hear about your miss fortune, if your interested im breaking a import classic and i have the key and barrel. pm me if you want a cheap fix! :)

Kam B 07 September 2009 09:35 AM

Tony, im from your neck of the woods :D

Changing the whole set I might consider but will be a long job wont it?

I need the bottom cowling too as it got broken by the channel U scummy chavs

JDM_Stig 07 September 2009 09:50 AM

If you contact one of the mobile key guys they will supply a barrel and they can retumble it to match your existing locks(i had this issue on another car), what you will still have to do is replace any broken parts still to the column etc.

Kam B 07 September 2009 10:01 AM

JDM Stig, thats a good idea, im on the case right now

Called one place but they are far from me

Kam,

Sorry to see this, it looks like a really nice car. Try Bucks Subaru for the parts to repair it. They are on 01494 564555 and they are just outside High Wycombe so not that from you.

Paul :)

Kam B 07 September 2009 08:49 PM

Hi Paul, you have seen me car? im impressed with your investigations lol

Appreciate the contact, il give them a try. Hopefully catch up sometime

Paulo P 08 September 2009 12:20 PM

I saw your for sale advert on Passionford lol. Good luck fixing it, it shouldn't be hard to fix :)
