AFAIK centre pipes are either straight through or resonsated chambers fitted, the latter will muffle the sound and I guess restrict flow slightly.

The straight pipe will increase flow and noise. Best gains to be had when changing downpipe to a catless one. :D

Hope this helps?

Basically, a straight(ish) bit of tube is a straight bit of tube, and one with a resonator on it has one ;)
Not much that any company can do to improve the design! I don't think you'll find much difference (performance-wise) between what the manufacturers can do once you've decided on whether it should have a resonator or not. Build quality- again, it's a tube...
