IIRC you have a phase 1.5 car V3 WRX (in JDM terms) 2nd generation engine.

The donor car you have is a phase 1, V2 STi/WRX with a 1st generation engine.

I stand to be corrected but I think in these terms.

WILL A ENGINE FROM A MY99 fit mine then bud? mrs gooner 1 i understand has 1!

I don't know what changes were made from V3's mate sorry. I think it's more straight forward, but I don't know with enough certainty to help you make a buying decision.

I thought my engine would go straight in! We were going to buy a donor car you see and use the engine from our one. :thumb:
I THOUGHT so long as you have the ECU etc - it would just about go into anything? Well not ANYTHING - but you know what i mean LOL - although a micra with a scoob engine....................... LOL

I cant see why you couldnt fit it...... IF you have the complete car you,l have the ECU and wiring loom..... OK . maybe a bit more work to do BUT it will fit

Spec'c'57 03 September 2009 10:02 AM

To put the MY99 engine in a 97 you will need a loom change, i had to when i fitted the P1 engine into my 97. If you have the whole car thats fine BUT its not easy as this also throws up LOTS of unthinkables. The dash switches/plugs are different so a dash change is required as well as clocks, The indicator stalks are the opposite way round and requires these changing. do you want any more. ;)

Ah yes, but the dam phone rang so held me back. lol

:D

V4JDMSTi 03 September 2009 10:17 AM

could go the short block route rather than the long block route you're looking at atm.

Spec'c'57 03 September 2009 10:30 AM

Was just about to say that actually matt. IF you swap most of your existing aux of your engine onto the other it can be done. have never gone this route myself but know it hads been done.

V4JDMSTi 03 September 2009 10:40 AM

Would be the same as doing a 2.5 conversion ;) Just a bit cheaper! :D Not an overly favourable route though as imo you should get the block and heads skimmed to make sure they're completely flat, then you have the cost of new gaskets etc. But then if you're going down the second hand route I'd be tempted to rebuild it anyway just to be on the safe side.

G-Man1982 03 September 2009 10:51 AM

right.. thanks for replys... i know i could do this and i know i could do that. ms gooner1, thanks for reply om pm but thats a little out my price range. thats my main problem money.

so if i have a whole car, as i thought to start with, with a bit of titting about it will all fit? correct?

G-Man1982 03 September 2009 11:01 AM

just spoke to david at API and i now know whats what! im buing that wagon and the mission will commence!

woop woop!!

V4JDMSTi 03 September 2009 11:06 AM

Good luck and have fun. Should be able to make most of the cost back from being able to sell bits off the wagon. How much for the clear side repeators? I broke a clip on one of mine at the weekend :(

G-Man1982 03 September 2009 11:11 AM
