Blocked Cat????????

I have recently bought a diesel Transit van, it is gutless and cantfeel the turbo kicking in or hear it, yes I know it not my scooby.

Last weekend I chng the oil, air and fuel filter, the airfilter that was fitted was in bits, just a rubber band with a few pieces of filter attached.

The turbo spins free, but would the pieces of filter block the Cat, and do they need one for the MOT? I was thinking about breaking the element up inside the can??

Thanks peeps

If it is a diesel Van then you can remove the cat for Mot purpose's, The Mot only involves a smoke Test..

What year of transit is it ?? It's not new is it & has a Diesel Particulate Filter ?? Similar to a cat ... But catches the Soot particles & burns off/removes later ..

Dean, Its an 03, do you think the brocken up filter could be blocking the cat?

easiest way would be to loosen off the bolts where the cat is and see what difference the performance is! if it is blocked you should see a major change!

If you mean the broken up air filter, Then no, This would never get anywhere near the cat, It would just be sucked into the turbo/inlet & chewed up ....

If you could remove the inlet pipe to the turbo & see that the turbo impellor is free & spins Etc, Also try as stated, Remove the cat part of the exhaust pipe & seee how it runs then ..

Best of luck
