What and how to check after buying used scooby?

HI,

Quick question which may end up being as simple as "take it to a dealer?"

Assuming i actually end up with the JDM STI V8 i'm searching for i would like to be sure of its condition before i put any miles on it...

What the best course of action to get a "health check and report"?

1. Main Dealer
2. Specialist
3. Friendly local scoobynet members
4. Local general Garage

And what is it likley to cost me £xx

Cheers John

Its a better idea to geddit checked BEFORE you buy it....Failin that a specialist with a rollin road....As fer cost, try phonin a few top specialists and tell em wot you want.

would say 2 and poss to some degree of 3 just for opinions if nothing else, i wouldnt think main dealers or local garage wot have come across enough to give a good opinion of its condition without trying to charge for things you dont need

Thanks Guys.... cheking before i buy is of course ideal, but the co-ordination, timing, location are all a bit hit and miss.

I'm looking for a 2003/4 JDM STI, so it could be anywhere and i'm also on a tight budget £8k ish [for purchase] so will have to negotiate down...

The logistics of getting to a car at short notice that could be 200 miles away including a specialist with the tools/ramps etc is mind boggling...

I'm hoping to pick one up on Scoonynet from people in the know that at least have some pedigree/track record/level of descency and honesty about them..

The likley milage will be around the 60k mark i suspect - any problems with that sort of miles as long as its moderatley tuned with a full history?

Make sure the Cam belt has been done at that mileages and don't be surprised if the clutch/rear shocks are on their last legs.
