If its a UK version I wouldn't bother, horrible seats !

JDM pre MY05 or Spec C or V7 UK STi, then go for it.

Also on the MY06 the frames are slightly different. They mount about an inch higher IIRC from when I looked into it.

I fitted 06 spec c seats in mine mate and it's a pretty easy job, only problems I ran into were the seat belt fasteners needed switched over and there was a 2 inch gap between the rear parcel shelf and top of seats that needed covered so you could not see the yellow foam.

They do sit a bit higher but driving position is fine, passenger seat does seem to sit higher than drivers though.

I would say go for it mate, transforms the inside of the car and I'm very pleased with mine. :D

Would really urge you to try the seats as I found them to be pretty poor. No idea about a Spec C, but standard 06 UK STI seats are too wide and do not hold you in like the Classic MY99/00 seats.

They will also raise your sitting position a little which annoys some people.

I put V7 STI seats in mine as mentioned above and they are great. Much narrower and hold you in properly. There is a problem with needing to sort out the rear seat where there is a gap at the top, but it's a relatively simple job to do.
