The Subaru specialist, Subaru4U in Newbury, Berks, always uses Forte engine flush - my '02 STI has done 20,000 miles since its first (it's had three) and it runs sweet as a nut. I guess if you race the car up the road with it in then you're asking for trouble, but used properly it seems fine. Also, after the most recent oil change/flush the oil is still a lovely honey colour 3k miles later, What's wrong with that?

i,m not dead against flushes, just looking for peoples opinions. i,ve now done 60,000 miles having mine from new with no probs, (touch wood)

a flush is only needed roughly every 45k id say,if its needed sooner, hmm...
kinda like a fuel injection cleaining kit, not needed all the time |
engine flush
engine flush isnt needed if you change your oil and filter regular. You wouldnt flush your coolent every 3000miles.Just easy for garages to make a little more profit.

Well, Subaru bottom ends are a bit of a weak link, putting what is basically a can of paraffin in the oil, just doesn't compute with me. I've been told, many times, not to use it. If there's any risk, I'm not doing it.

Engine flushes are a :nono: for a reason on scoobs, if you wanted to "flush" then get a nice cheap semi synthetic and run it for 100 miles then change it again, but using a parafin flush removes all the oil off the bearing, hence you get big end failures, but its your engine and your 10 quid for the flush and your 2.5k for the engine ;) Tony:) |
