Don't wish to spoil the fun......but have you considered the gearbox

If it breaks put another in....then stop doing high rpm launches..

Simple..

GavinP 11 March 2002 02:04 PM

2.2 = 420bhp ?

Impreza 22B = 280bhp ?

The numbers don't add up unless you are having a "dustbin sized" turbo fitted at the same time.... ;)

Get a written guarantee on the BHP !

Thanks

Gavin

That might be my next mod, before I change turbo (a kit with some nice forged bits).

What are they charging for the stroker kit, and what are you getting for your money ?

Cheers

Steve

gavin,

that makes no sense at all.

just because the 22B runs 280ps, doesnt mean that it cant do more. It runs low boost and very retarded ignition to avoid det.

It is also much faster on road due to low down torque.

there are several 5 litre cars I know of that run very low power, it doesnt mean that if you ask them to, they wont be able to produce more with less effort than a smaller capacity engine.

I would want a guarantee though, I dont believe any of the tuningh companies who promise bhp figures.

I dont knwo of any autosportif cars with a stroker that have broken 400, including nicky grists' and their own car which only managed 370.

Adam,

You are right of course - I was trying to make my point in an un-complicated manner... ;)

Like you, I haven't seen any cars with a REAL power figure of over 380bhp hence my point about getting a written guarantee... ;)

Thanks

Gavin
