Hesitation, missfire? anything common?

Hi All,

I am getting a hesitation, bit like a missfire and then a little surge etc.
Only just started over the last couple of days.
Anything thats common to cause it?

I had the same and it is a misfire. Changed the plugs as I had a remap due anyway and the exhaust up pipe was cracked. Could also be the MAF, I had that changed to.

Hi,

I am looking at the plugs this weekend.
Up pipe I can check.
Any way of checking the MAF without just fitting a new one?

Hi mate

The way to check your maf is start your car and let it tick over then un-plug your maf and it should stall this way you know your maf is ok.

hope that helps

regards

Nick

Will try that tonight.
what if the car doesnt stall, faulty etc?

Different car I know, but I had a similar issue on my old MY99 UK scoob a while back.

Ended up being a combination of MAF, lambda sensor and Idle Control Valve. Just wear and tear. All three were replaced and the problem buggered off. Probably was more the MAF and lambda sensor though.

That would be my first port of call anywho :thumb:

Any engine light ?

What filter was it you fitted recently ? is it sitting flush ?

the_big_1 19 August 2009 02:01 PM

The filter is a K&N and was in the car when I got a few months ago and not touched and no, no warnning lights.
