Roughly What BHP Is my STI Type R V limted??

Hello there just bought an STI Type R V limited 2 Door Coupe, Its got a few mods which are:

Full Turbo Back Exhaust With Sports Cats,

IHI Bigger Turbo,

Autobahn 88 Front Mount Intercooler,

Blitz Boost Controller, Inc Turbo Timer,

Lightened Fly Wheel,

F1 Organinc Paddle Clutch,

HKS Induction Kit,

Boost Is set at 1.5 Bar, Peeks at 1.64 bar..

What Kind Of Bhp Figures Do you Think The Car Could Achieve??

And Do You Think The Boost Is Too Much?

Thanks,

IHI Bigger Turbo,
Bigger? Are you saying that this is a bigger IHI turbo than the car was originally fitted with, or that it's bigger than a standard UK turbo (and thus still the standard turbo for that car), or...?

Autobahn 88 Front Mount Intercooler,
Yuk. IMHO.

What's with the Seemingly Random capital Letters? That's a piece of string question, and it's difficult to work out what the string is made of when we don't even know which version car/engine you've got. Are you asking us how much we think it's making at the moment, or how much it's capable of making if you chuck some money at it, or? Most of the classic STis properly tuned with the mods you mentioned and nothing else would probably end up in the 320-330bhp ballpark.

And Do You Think The Boost Is Too Much?
Again we don't have the information we need to answer that question for you. 1.5+ is certainly well above the boost target of any of the standard classic STi ECUs, so how is this limit being achieved? If it's still ECU controlled and the car has been tuned by a reputable mapper and is running the target he intended, then no, in the strict sense of the term it's probably not "too much" as the mapper should have ensured everything was within safe limits.

If however this has been achieved with a some tack-on manual boost controller or piggyback device and the engine is running on a standard Japanese fuel map, then yes, it may well be a lot too much and, with a bit of mass airflow scale error thrown in from the induction kit, could be detting itself to pieces. We have no way of knowing which of the two extremes above (or somewhere in between) applies.

so basically you have bought a car that u dont have a clue about. i mean if u buy a modified specialist car like this, you should really know what you r buying and what the modifications are on it, rather than "how much power has it got and how fast will it go" no wonder so many of these cars end up with blown engines. didnt u think about asking the seller of the car a few questions about it rather than just handing over a wad of cash cause it sounds good and goes fast! ffs!!!!

If the previous owner/garage didnt tell you how much or what had been done, I would have walked away, your sitting on a potential money pit that could go bang at any time :(

Tony:)

lol, ive had more subaru's then you've had hot dinner's mate, im in the trade of buying subaru's but we normally do alot of WRX's , first sti type r v limited we have had, reason i never checked every single part that has been put on it as an extra as i payed next to nothink for it, the seller only bought it because it was a subaru and never new much about it and only had it for 6 months, only sold it because he had a kid on the way. i know what car it is, its sti type r v limited, not 555. its has not got a centre diff control, ive told you what modifications it already got, come here to ask abit of advice and people start shooting your head off. thanks for the people that are giving sensible advise.
